BPELSG Board
You should be aware that the BGG (Board of Registration for Geologists and Geophysicists) has been eliminated effective October 23, 2009, and its responsibilities transferred to the engineer's board, BPELS (Board of Professional Engineerings and Land Surveyors). This action was taken by legislators under pressure to reach a budget compromise in the form of assembly bill AB 4X 20. In January 2011 AB 1431 becomes law; it changes the BPELS to BPELSG (Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists) and adds a geologist to the Board.
This page will post periodic updates about the status of geologic licensing with the BPELSG.
AB1431 goes into affect. Renames BPELS to BPELSG (Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists). One geologist position is added making this a 15-member Board (1 Geologist, 5 Engineers, 1 Land Surveyor, and 8 Public Members)
